Raducanu cautiously returns to grass-court season after injury setbacks

As the grass-court season kicks off, all eyes are on Emma Raducanu as she aims to make a strong comeback after a series of injuries. The 21-year-old tennis sensation missed last summer’s grass-court season due to surgeries on her ankle and wrist but is now looking to recapture the form that saw her win the US Open three years ago.

Raducanu has been carefully managing her schedule and recently impressed at the Rothesay Open in June, reaching the semi-finals before falling to British No.1 Katie Boulter. With her injury issues seemingly behind her, the hype is building ahead of Wimbledon.

However, fellow British player Johanna Konta believes that expectations should remain low for Raducanu as she continues to focus on building her physical ability and staying healthy. Konta, who attended a Pickleball event alongside former British No.1 Greg Rusedski, highlighted the importance of Raducanu playing as many matches as possible to lead into the hardcourt swing in the US.

While Raducanu may have limited gametime behind her, Boulter is in fine form after defending her title in Nottingham and winning the San Diego Open. Konta is optimistic about Boulter’s chances at Wimbledon, noting her strong performances and the importance of keeping her body healthy.

In addition to her tennis pursuits, Konta has been trying her hand at pickleball and encourages more people to give the sport a try. She finds pickleball to be a fun and accessible game that closely resembles tennis, providing a good level regulator for players of all skill levels.

As the grass-court season unfolds, all eyes will be on Raducanu and Boulter as they aim to make their mark on the tennis world. With their talent and determination, both players are sure to deliver exciting performances on the court.
