Town of Davis Plans for New Rubberized Basketball Court and Pickleball Court
Are you a fan of basketball or pickleball? Well, get ready for some exciting news coming out of the Town of Davis! The Town Council has approved a plan to revamp the town basketball court with a new rubberized tile system and create a brand new outdoor pickleball court.
Council member Chuck Wood presented the project to the Town Council during their regular meeting on July 10th, estimating the cost to be around $25,000. Wood mentioned that he received quotes from several companies, but ultimately chose one that was not only competitive in pricing but also quick to respond. The rubberized tile system, made in the USA, comes with a 16-year guarantee and is designed to interlock like hardwood flooring, making it easy to install and maintain.
The project will not only benefit basketball enthusiasts but also cater to the growing popularity of pickleball in the area. With a variety of colors and designs available, the system can be customized to include the Town of Davis seal, adding a unique touch to the court. Wood emphasized the importance of utilizing the park space effectively and providing the community with new recreational opportunities.
Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has been gaining traction in the area, with a dedicated group of players already in the community. Wood mentioned that the demand for pickleball courts is on the rise, surpassing that of traditional basketball courts in some cases.
The Town Council’s approval for Wood to seek funding for the project signals a positive step towards enhancing the recreational facilities in Davis. So, get ready to lace up your sneakers and grab your paddles because exciting changes are coming to the town basketball court! Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project.
