Plans to Transform Former Boston’s Site in Toms River into Recreational Facility Heading to Planning Board

Are you ready for a new and exciting recreational facility to come to Toms River, NJ? After a decade of sitting empty, the former Boston’s restaurant and sports bar on Fischer Boulevard may soon be transformed into a hub of activity and fun for the community.

The Toms River Planning Board is set to hear a proposal for a large recreational facility that will offer a variety of activities, including batting cages, pickleball courts, virtual golf, and even an indoor shooting range. The project, proposed by 1675 Hooper Avenue LLC, aims to revitalize the property and bring new life to the area.

The plans for the facility include renovating the existing buildings, such as the restaurant, golf range, and gym facility. The two-story golf range building will be restored and transformed into a bar/lounge with virtual golf, shuffleboard, pool tables, and arcade games. The gym facility will be converted into office, storage, maintenance, and retail space.

In addition, the project includes adding new buildings for an indoor shooting range, batting cages, and pickleball courts. The proposed site plan requires several variances for setbacks, parking, and buffer zones, which will be discussed at the upcoming planning board meeting.
