India to Host Inaugural World Pickleball Championship Series in Mumbai

The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) is set to make history by hosting the prestigious World Pickleball Championship (WPC) Series for the first time in India. This exciting event, scheduled to take place in Mumbai from November 12th to 17th, 2024, will bring together top pickleball talent from around the world, following successful tournaments in Vietnam and Bali.

Indian teams have already shown their prowess in earlier legs of the championship, securing Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. Now, with the WPC Series coming to India, approximately 650 players from 6 to 7 countries, including Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Poland, and Singapore, will compete in what is expected to be a thrilling and competitive tournament.

The President of AIPA, Arvind Prabhoo, expressed his excitement about hosting the championship, emphasizing the opportunity to showcase global talent on an Indian stage and promote the growth of pickleball in the country. Jan Papi, Founder of Pickleball Global and the WPC Series, also shared his enthusiasm for bringing the championship to India and collaborating with AIPA to elevate the sport’s profile.

Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has been rapidly gaining popularity worldwide, and India is no exception.
