The Highlands School Raises Record-Breaking $300k at 22nd Annual Big Event
The Highlands School recently hosted its 22nd annual Big Event, and it was a huge success! The event, which took place on Oct. 13th and 14th at Maryland Golf and Country Club, raised over $300k, a record-breaking amount. This money will go towards scholarships for deserving students in the community who attend The Highlands School, a K-8 independent school that educates students with learning differences and achievement gaps.
The Big Event is the school’s largest annual fundraiser and one of the biggest fundraisers in Harford County. This year’s event featured a variety of tournaments and activities, including a golf tournament, pickleball tournament, tennis tournament, 5k race, and fun walk, as well as a dinner and auction. The 5k race was particularly popular, with 250 participants.
The event would not have been possible without the support of the presenting sponsors, including Spartan Surfaces, WSMT Insurance, BCV, Mallard Sportfishing, the Sullivan family, Altus Engineering, Har-co Credit Union, APGFCU, and Yorktowne Sports. Their generosity helped make this year’s Big Event a huge success.
Board Treasurer and Big Event Chair Stuart Lucas expressed his excitement about the record-breaking fundraising amount, stating that it reflects the dedication and generosity of the entire community. Board President Bob McClelland thanked everyone who attended the event and encouraged others to support The Highlands School through online donations.
If you missed this year’s Big Event, mark your calendars for next year’s event on Sunday, Oct. 12th and Monday, Oct. 13th.
