State Budget Earmarks Bring Financial Relief to Anderson County and South Carolina

Are you a resident of Anderson County, South Carolina, or just interested in local government funding and improvements? If so, you’ll be excited to hear that the state budget is set to pass later this week, bringing financial relief to various entities in the area. From park enhancements to utility upgrades and emergency equipment, there are plenty of exciting developments on the horizon.

One of the most notable requests in Anderson County is for the addition of eight pickleball courts at the recently reopened Dolly Cooper Park in Powdersville. This $573,151 request, sponsored by Anderson Sen. Richard Cash, includes all necessary work to make these courts a reality. Pickleball has been growing in popularity, and adding these courts aligns with the park’s master plan, as stated by government affairs director Steve Newton.

But the requests don’t stop there. Earmark requests across the state cover a wide range of projects, from road improvements to beach restorations. Some standout requests include funding for high school football all-star games and even a multimillion-dollar earmark to move an at-risk historic church to a new location.

In Anderson County specifically, volunteer fire departments are seeking funding for building upgrades, while municipalities like Iva and Honea Path are looking to improve their water lines. The Cancer Association of Anderson has a significant request for the construction of a “Center for Hope and Healing” to support cancer patients in the area.

With the state budget expected to pass soon, these earmarks could bring about positive changes for Anderson County and its residents. Keep an eye out for updates on these exciting developments as they unfold.
